The aim of the IR35 legislation is to prevent tax avoidance by working as ‘disguised employees’. A disguised employee is someone who works in a similar way to a full-time employee but who invoices and is paid through their limited company.
IR35 also aims to stop employers from paying workers as disguised employees as this can mean they are avoiding making National Insurance contributions and providing employment benefits.
